2 There is an arm that never tires When human strength gives way; There is a love that never fails When earthly loves decay. I 3 That eye is fixed on seraph throngs; That arm upholds the sky; That ear is filled with angel songs; That love is throned on high.
|
4 But there's a power which man can wield
When mortal aid .is vain, That eye, that arm, that love to reach,. That listening ear to gain.
5 That power is prayer, which soars on high,
Through Jesus, to the throne, And moves the hand which moves the world, To bring salvation down.

■ 2 That will not murmur nor complain Beneath the chastening rod, But, in the hour of grief and pain, Will lean upon its God; 3 A faith that shines more bright and clear When tempests rage without; That when in danger knows no fear, In darkness feels no doubt; |
4 A faith that keeps the narrow way
Till life's last hour is fled, And with a pure and heavenly ray Lights up a dying bed.
5 Lord, give us such a faith as this,
And then, whate'er may come, We'll taste, e'en here, the hallowed bliss Of an eternal home.
William H. Bathurst, 1831 |
